Microsoft takes on Apple with Zune
...although analyst are saying that Microsoft will lose money. Unit for unit, Zune has the same capacity and price as the iPod. However, the Zune is bulker and has shorter battery life which may lead to its downfall. We'll see what happens when the Christmas shopping season kicks in.
