Power of Silence

The saying goes that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. Of course, this doesn't apply to blog but there is a lot to be said in the power of being silent when in the presences of others. Apparently, one religious leader has used this idea very effectively in building his cult. By his silence and his gaze, he is able to easily wield power over his congregation. I guess this is better than a lot of religious leaders who guilt everyone into following them. Still, how exactly does he do this?
