430 days ago, I hooked my blogs up with PayPerPost. Today I made it in their postie lottery known as "blog of the day." Amazing! This is a shock since usually the "blog of the day" is someone who just signed up within the last few milliseconds. But not today! Woo-Hoo!

My thanks goes out to a great fellow blogger, CyberCelt, who let me know about this honor! Yes, I probably don't deserve such an award. But I have bad eyesight and I don't deserve that either. So there you have it. If you're a first time visitor, I welcome you to my blog of sometimes outlandish thoughts. Look around, kick the tires, leave a comment or two so we can find out about your blog and maybe share this love.

I want to thank Bill Gates and the Department of Defense for this making this all possible. To Al Gore, thanks for nothing. Of course, thanks to my parents! After all, where would I be without their union? Certainly not blogging here. Free Form verses Review type posts

There seems to be some confusion about what a free-form post is and what a review type post is. For example, if I were to do a free-form post on intranet software and link it to epazz.com, I might write about the adventures that I'm having at work as I develop a program to connect our production test equipment through our network. In contrast, if I were to write a review type post, my post would be focused entirely on Epazz's intranet program. In this case, I would probably write about their 30 day free trial of their software; how they seek to improve workflow through an effective collaboration and in-depth personalization to the end-user's level; and how the software is designed to easily integrate to all of an enterprise's backend systems. The difference is that in a review post, the advertiser dictates what point they want covered. In a free-form, the writer has a creative license about the topic.

So if you are an advertiser who would like to have posts written for your product or service, please know that there is a difference between a review and a free-form entry. Please make your request accordingly and thank you for your support.

some of you are too serious

I recently made a tongue-in-cheek post about promoting the rights of plants. After receiving some e-mails about it, a couple of you took my article a lot more seriously than I intended. So let me state here and now that I have friends who are animal rights activists, who are vegetarians, and some who are a little of both. That post was not meant to be disparaging to either group. OK? The only point I was trying to make was ... well, why don't you read it and tell me what you think?

Wish I were a Super Postie

I don't know how you other posties do it! There you are with five, six, ten blogs; posting your heart away. Of course, it shows with a few of you making a couple of thousands from PPP. So I am in absolute awe of your effort! Where do you find the time? How do you schedule your day? Yes, I have a couple of other jobs and my travel time takes up almost three hours a day. But I don't have a family to tend to when I get home or a house to clean. Well, I do have a house to clean and dishes and laundry to do. But someone said to live each day as your last. And who wants to do house work on their last day?! Nah, I do it ... as time allows.

Anyway, I didn't want to neglect our Alexa project and it has bothered me since day one that I couldn't make visits to everyone's site on the list every single day. SO! I've finally written a script that I can run daily to visit every link on Robyn's Alexa Project page (see the link on my sidebar). In fact, I am adding my friends' sites to my script as well. If you have blogcatalog (or the like) on your site, you should see my smiling face or my 'Animal' pic when I visit. If you are reading this and you want me to stop by your site to help your Alexa rating, then email me or leave a comment. I'm porting this script to my other two computers, so ideally your blog will have three daily visits from me. O'tay? Now I just need to find time to develop my half-baked posts into tasty pieces, quick fried to the crackly crunch, juicy yet firm blogs ....

Blogging About Our Small Towns

My life has been spent in several towns all over the United States. The only way I can share those experiences with you right now is through pictures and memories. I could do a much better job if I had taken the time to write down impressions that would have matched those faded pictures. Of course, this means I wouldn't have been able to verbally embellished those memories that are even more faded.

With that in mind, I signed up with an Internet project that is focused on blogging about small towns across the United States. I'm rather excited about using www.LocalTownBlogs.com to write about my experiences of living in Spring Lake, North Carolina. I've been here over 20 years and have seen a tremendous amount of change. And I can tell you that there are a lot more to come. Addictions

There are a lot of deadly addictions that seem to strive for our very souls. Everything from food and drink to sex and money. Some even end up fighting a prescription drug addiction. The other day, somebody mentioned how they were addicted to blogging. How do you even know if you have that kind of addiction? Do you break out in a cold sweat when you see an unoccupied keyboard? If you read a newspaper, do you find yourself looking for a 'comment' icon to click on? Do you have so many blogs that you find yourself writing more words than there are in "War and Peace" on a daily basis? When someone mentions feeds, do you immediately think of RSS instead of food? When you take a number at the bakery, do you feel like Alexia and Technorati are somehow involved? If you do go for medical help, do they refrained from telling you to write down your problems? Does your doctor put you in a 12 keystroke program?

Thank goodness I don't have a blogging problem. I just like sharing lots of ideas with the Internet community every day. When my house lost power, perspiration broke out on on my forehead. But that was from air conditioning being off and not from intense feelings of dread that came over me because my cable modem was out. Yes, I know it was winter but that's beside the point. Like I said, that goodness I don't have a blogging problem.
