There seems to be insurance for almost any disaster imaginable. But I wonder if there is a policy that employees can take out on their companies, a policy that would pay out in cases of mismanagement, greed or acts of incompetency by their employers. No doubt such a service would be expensive. But when the insurance agency evaluates the company for this form of business insurance, the employee will get an idea of how stable their employers really are. It would be a great rating system that is visible to all, unlike those mysterious financial statements that troubled employers tend to keep hidden from their workers.

This company's pool of talented people is rapidly shrinking. The only thing dropped faster is the moral of employees. Today I learned that yet another fellow employee has had enough of the 'fun and games' around here and turned in her notice. The powers-that-be don't believe in succession planning. So naturally, they have no replacements for their dwindling human resources. The work is simply moved onto one or more already overburdened workers. My departing day is coming soon. For now, staying here is like watching a slow-motion train wreck from the inside car...

Not Good Business Practices

Today I learned that one of the companies I work for is setting a bad precedent with one of our vendors. A year ago we received parts from this particular supplier that contained bad items. The vendor agreed that we should go through the shipment, find all the bad parts and return them to him. He would then replace the malfunction units with good ones and my employer would then release payment for the entire shipment. That was a year ago. Quality department has yet to go through rest of the shipment and my employer has yet to pay this supplier. I'm thinking that the vendor has a year warranty on those units. And time is pretty much up. I'm hoping that is more to the story than I have discovered so far. I do know that if the vendor was a US company, I don't think things would have proceeded as they have so far.
